About Bekunet
Whilst I am a maker and artist myself – I can’t do everything on my own! I don’t have enough hours, hands or even skills to do everything myself! I have therefore joined with the many makers, designers and crafts people of the world, in an attempt to harmonise our talents, and bring to you their crafts, my own products as well as to create unique and high quality products together.
Born and bred in Australia, I have travelled the world. In my 20’s I backpacked solo from Australia to the UK overland all the way without catching a plane. I have done high altitude mountaineer in the Himalayas and Everest Regions. I have sofa surfed for a year in Paris whilst studying fashion design and studied silversmithing in the valleys of Indonesia’s Sumatera Island. I have spent time in India and backpacked solo from Panama to Mexico discovering the amazing colours and textiles of South America and walked the souks of Morocco and markets of Istanbul. It is through these adventures and encounters that I have discovered a love for the exotic, traditional and creative cultures of the world.
Quality materials, sustainability and handcrafted are central to the design and construction of my products as well as Bekunet’s.

More about Bek
I love the item that is handmade. I love the flaws of the makers mark, and the stories that come behind the skills, workshops and cultures of the world that operate to bring ideas into fruition. They are signs of a personal touch and signature of uniqueness! Handmade pieces have their own signature and the flaws of the makers mark, rather that the precision of a machine.
It gives an insight behind the history of the item and goes deeper to imprint a piece of the person who made it.
If it is handmade, then each piece is unique, personal and made with love. No two pieces are the same. You have one of a kind!
These marks and imperfections are wonderful. Think about the idea that these pieces retain the imprints made by someone with a life so different from yours! Or, in the case of vintage and antique pieced, of someone who no longer walks this earth. Or with tools handed down in workshops that have existed for centuries.
That being said – Occasionally, I do find a product that isn’t handmade but I just can’t help but love and share with you!
